You can never hide who you are. As a bank teller, I wrote a training manual for new employees. As an office coordinator for a water softener company, I wrote website copy. When you're a writer, it always comes out. The best an editor can do is help that writing come out with intention, grace, and strength of voice, and I am happy to provide that help!
As an aspiring novelist from the age of eight, I understand the many trials and errors it takes to complete a draft, and I've learned a lot since I was eight. My BFA in Creative and Professional Writing taught me much about the writing process, and during my studies I worked in the Writing Resource Center to help my classmates perfect essays. Since college, I have taken courses with the Editorial Freelancers Association to test my editing skills and to continue learning. In my nine years of freelance editing, I have worked across many genres in both fiction and nonfiction. Asking me to pick a favorite genre is like asking me to pick a favorite book. It's nearly impossible. However, I love to edit mysteries, women's fiction, young adult, and contemporary. I enjoy many others, so I encourage you to contact me for a free sample edit to see if I am a good fit for your project. I find working with new authors especially rewarding, but I'm looking to build relationships with writers who have an eye on publishing—either traditionally or independently. I want to be your go-to editor for your first book and all the ones that follow! |
